In light of the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions, it is unlikely that Bradford Civic Society will be be able to hold any meetings or events during the first part of 2021.
Our aim will be to resume activities with an Annual General Meeting – which was postponed in 2020 – when local restrictions allow, although this is likely to be in Summer.
Bradford Civic Society’s Place Panel – which meets to scrutinise matters of design and placemaking – will continue to meet virtually, and their next meeting is on Wednesday 13 January.
Bradford Civic Society will also continue to install blue plaques remotely, and has secured funding from Bradford BID for a further series of plaques in the city centre.
Later in the year, we plan to resume special events that were cancelled at the start of 2020 – specifically an event relating Bradford’s post-war planner, Stanley Wardley; and a special focus on the history of Bradford’s markets.
Given that there are currently no events taking place at this time, we have temporarily suspended online membership applications as we are currently unable to process them.
Members and friends of Bradford Civic Society will continue to receive regular email updates. Please also keep checking our website for news of upcoming events or activities, as well as regular news relating to Bradford.
In the meantime, Bradford Civic Society would like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year. We hope you have a healthy and prosperous 2021.
Bradford Civic Society, Executive Committee.
Update – February 25 2021:
Following the Government’s announcing of the gradual easing of Covid-19 restrictions throughout Spring/Summer 2021, it is now likely that Bradford Civic Society will be able to host an Annual General Meeting – at a city centre venue – in July 2021. More details will be published in due course. In the meantime, there will be an online members’ meeting on Tuesday 9 March at 7pm. Details here.
