This is the latest computer-generated image of what Bradford’s new city centre market will look like when it opens in 2022.
It’s also been revealed today that the new site will be called Darley Street Market – a name that was picked by Bradford Council after consulting with market traders, city centre stakeholders, and members of the public.
Earlier this month, the Bradford Telegraph and Argus reported that Kier has been awarded the contract to build the new Darley Street Market following the demolition of several empty shops on Darley Street. The new multi-storey market building will have several different entrances and a new public square will be created to connect Piccadilly and Darley Street.
The new market is costing £21 million, and both the Oastler Centre and Kirkgate Market will close when the new site opens.
