Brutal Bradford to be debated at next city centre event

Bradford Civic Society will host a public debate in February to discuss the role of brutalism and other styles of modern architecture in the city centre.

The debate has been inspired by recent social media discussions about what the future might hold for the city’s landmark “High Point” office building – the brutalist former headquarters of the Bradford Permanent Building Society on Westgate. While there have been universal calls for the building’s demolition in recent years, there are an increasing number of requests for its restoration and preservation. Our event will also discuss the 1976 Kirkgate Market – a building tipped for significant refurbishment in the near future.

Save High Point // Raze High Point will take place on Tuesday 27 February from 7pm and will be hosted by Assembly Bradford on Rawson Place. Please note, due to high demand, this will be a strictly ticketed event. Free tickets are available here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/save-high-point-raze-high-point-tickets-42881463612

Bradford Civic Society commissioned designer Jimmy Smith to produce the artwork for this event.
