Big step forwards for new city office development

One City Park – a flagship new 56,000 sq ft office building in Central Bradford – has taken another step forwards with the announcement that Muse Developments has exchanged a significant development agreement with the City of Bradford Council.

The City Council has also successfully secured £7.5m worth of funding from the Government’s Getting Building Fund through West Yorkshire Combined Authority, to accelerate the delivery of One City Park. The scheme is expected to create 300 construction jobs and another 452 jobs when complete.

Bradford Civic Society’s Place Panel met with developers Muse and the Council in February to discuss design matters ahead of a wider public consultation beginning in late March. Following completion of the consultation exercise, Muse is looking to submit a planning application in the Summer.

Cllr Susan Hinchcliffe, Leader of the City of Bradford Council said: “The development agreement is another positive step on the way to Muse Developments delivering a striking, state-of-the-art and energy efficient mixed use building at the heart of Bradford city centre, with support from the Council and the Combined Authority. The pandemic has focused a lot of people’s minds on how office space and public realm should be used in the future and I would encourage everyone to have their say through Muse’s community consultation when it is launched.”

Bradford Civic Society understands that – subject to planning consents – Muse could be on site to begin works towards the end of 2021.
